Quote of the Day

"I think my whole job as a journalist is to try to mess up people's ability to be passive." -Don Shelby

As Christians, shouldn't this be our same goal???

Six Month Checkup

Today Israel went in for her 6-month checkup. She is healthy and developing perfectly. She is now up to 15 lbs, 4 oz (45th percentile) and 26 inches long (90th percentile). Long and skinny? Where did she get those genes?
This weekend she WENT IN THE LAKE for the first time without freaking out! Up until now she'd cry if I even touched her toes to the water, so for her to get in and sit in the lake is a huge accomplishment for her.
Here are some recent pictures, though they were taken on my camera so the quality is not fabulous.

What's New?

Not much here...that's why I haven't been posting much! But as a quick update...
...Israel now has TWO teeth (bottom ones) and can roll from her back to her tummy now. I tried to get a picture of them, but this is all I came up with:
*Sigh* Oh well, when I get one I'll let you know. :)
In other news, after only one year, we have sold our cute little Scion xB. We bought it when we thought we had a buyer for JP's second work van, but the buyer backed out. We can't afford to carry three car notes any longer, and it makes the most sense to sell the Scion. The good news is that it sold relatively quickly to a great, Christian lady. She's this funky, 60-something, spirit-filled grandma who was SO excited that we were Christians, too.
I have to admit, though, that I am pretty sad to see the car go. I actually cried about it last night (I'm such a weeper) thinking about all the memories we packed into that car in one year:
-The HOURS of research JP put into buying it (side note: one of the reasons we went with this particular car was because we knew we probably wouldn't own it very long and it has great re-sale value)
-Riding the motorcycle to the dealership to pick it up
-Picking JP up from his motorcycle accident to take him to the ER
-Riding down the road with the dogs heads out the windows
-The time the dogs chewed through the seatbelt
and perhaps the most bittersweet of all...
-Bringing our baby home from the hospital
I could go on, but I won't bore you. To sum it up, it's been a great little car and I will miss it. The lady comes to pick it up on Friday. I will then resume driving the GMC "Monster Mom" Safari. :)

Goodbye little car!

4th of July Weekend

I hope you all had a very restful holiday weekend! We had a full and fun one. We spent the 4th out at the lake kneeboarding and tubing. It was Israel's first time on a boat and she seemed to love it. Funny though...life vests are supposed to keep you above water, but Rae seemed to be drowning in it. :)

On Thursday morning, we packed up the van, the baby and the dogs and headed up to Tettegouche State Park in Silver Bay, MN to go camping. Our friends, James & Alyssa and their two boys, went with us. The north shore is probably my favorite place in the world. I just love the rocky beaches of Lake Superior. Our camp site was really nice, too, but it got REALLY hot during the day. We had to escape to the lake for relief. Israel did great considering the fact that she is teething (cut her first tooth on the 5th!!!) and it was wickedly hot. We took a hike to the high falls of Baptism River, visited Split Rock Lighthouse, had lunch in Grand Marais one day and even drove all the way up to Grand Portage. We nearly made it to the Canadian Border!

Don't worry...these are just bb guns they were shooting at water bottles and pop cans.

Our spoiled pups

We had a lot of fun, but it's good to be home. Camping sure is a lot more work when you have babies along!
